It is the goal of the Shelbyville Police Department to reduce crime in
our neighborhoods. In an attempt to reach this goal The
Shelbyville Police Department established a Neighborhood Watch Program
to get more involvement and cooperation between its police department
and the citizens we protect.
Shelbyville for the most part is a very safe community, but we still
have problems with petty crime. We believe with the assistance
of the public, crime in our neighborhoods can be reduced
substantially.
Our Neighborhood Crime Watch partners will be trained in several areas
including collecting information and reporting the information to the
police department in a manner that will best assist the responding
police officers. They are never to go hands-on, make contact or
chase the criminals.
We
want to make Shelbyville a safe and attractive location for new
business, new retail and new members of our community.
